The council is working with the Church of St Mary and All Saints to develop Crooked Spire. Plans include new lightning to help the apperance of the spire at night and a link into Rykneld Square from the Crooked Spire.

The Station Master Plan includes new development plots creating 850+ jobs, a link road, improved pedestrian and cycle access, a multi-storey car park with EV charging, a cycle hub, green spaces, and enhanced station facilities.
The Northern Gateway scheme has created 500 jobs, added an enterprise center, car park, and street improvements, and redeveloped the former Co-op store with public and private funding.
The facility includes an 8-lane pool, sports courts, gym, studio space, squash courts, a learner pool, café, midwifery center, training rooms, and changing facilities, with free parking for up to 150 cars.
An industrial development by Coverland UK Ltd, offering 65,000 sq ft of business space across four plots with excellent transport links. It includes light industrial units, trade counters, and secure premises ranging from 2,250 to 30,000 sq ft, with planning submission expected in Q1 2024.
The Staveley Town Deal supports the restoration of the Chesterfield Canal, including 350m of canal channel restoration, new bridges, a lock, upgraded footpaths, and improved town connectivity. Additionally, shop front improvements and public realm works on High Street will enhance the town center and its conservation area.
The University of Derby's St Helena campus in Chesterfield offers state-of-the-art facilities for Nursing, Health, Business, and Engineering students, with strong ties to local healthcare partners.
